On Sunday 13 May 2012 the Sunday Telegraph in the UK carried an article about the dispute over the mining licenses. Despite appearances to the contrary, this was not written by a Sunday Telegraph journalist and is not to be regarded as independent reporting.
It was part of a paid-for supplement called Business Reporter, which carries articles constructed by public relations advisers. The company which offers this service, Lyonsdown Advertising, boasts of its sleight of hand as follows: "We publish more than 50 supplements a year, which are included within broadsheet newspapers. These publications reach a mass audience of affluent, intelligent and highly influential readers who trust the contents of the newspapers they read. Our supplements are printed on the same paper as the newspaper itself, folded inside with other magazines and sections. They look and feel exactly like any other part of the newspaper."
